FAQ (Updated COVID-19 Procedure)

How much does this service cost?

Due to COVID-19 and the unexpected close of College housing, CC Student Storage will be waiving the $50.00 monthly storage fee for the month of April as a courtesy to all students effected by this inconvenience. 

Payment is due upon registration. We do not offer a monthly payment plan.

The cost of packing your dorm room for you is $200.00. This includes all boxing and labeling materials.

The cost of storage is $50.00 per month.

The cost of each Specialty Item stored is a one-time payment of $15.00.

The cost of “My Dorm Room” pick up and delivery is a one-time payment of $99.00.

The cost of shipping your belongings to you is based on the amount of items you have as well as the location of your shipping address. We will send you an invoice before any items are shipped.

Connecticut state sales tax will be applied to the cost of services at checkout. All sales are final. No refunds for our services will be processed. Please note that we may refuse to deliver items back to you if your account balance is not paid in full by specified delivery day.

How long is my storage term?

Due to the uncertainty of COVID-19, CC Student Storage cannot guarantee any delivery dates. We will follow the rules set by Connecticut College regarding move-in dates and notify you as soon as possible. We appreciate your understanding.

You may select either the “Summer” term or the “Fall Semester Abroad” term during registration.

The “Summer” term includes the months of April (free), May, June, July, and August. You will be billed $50.00 per month for four (4) months of storage.

The “Fall Semester Abroad” term includes the “Summer” term plus the months of September, October, November, December, and January. You will be billed $50.00 per month for nine (9) months of storage.

Will boxes and labeling materials be provided for me?

No, we do not provide boxes or labeling materials. You may use your own boxes and labeling materials or purchase new supplies from a local retail store.

What is considered a box?

We consider any durable cardboard box, tote, chest, crate or strong plastic container as a “box.” You may store unlimited boxes during your selected storage term. If a box is damaged and/or not properly sealed, we will consider it as a Specialty Item.

What is considered a Specialty Item?

Any item that cannot fit inside of a box, such as a couch, bag, suitcase with wheels, mini fridge, rug, plastic drawer, lamp, or T.V. is considered a Specialty Item. A one-time payment of $15.00 per Specialty Item will be added to your bill.

We reserve the right to determine which of your belongings are Specialty Items. Upon pick up, if a Specialty Item was not included in your initial registration form, you will be subject to a $30.00 service fee to store that Specialty Item. No boxes or Specialty Items will be returned until the $30.00 service fee is paid in full.

How do I label my boxes and Specialty Items?

It is your responsibility to properly label your boxes and Specialty Items with your first name, last name, and FUTURE dorm room. If you do not wish to write directly on your boxes or Specialty Items, please attach duct tape with the information written on it or a pre-made name tag.

If your boxes and Specialty Items are not properly labeled, then they will NOT be picked up or stored. No refunds for our services will be processed.

What if I do not know my FUTURE dorm room?

Your FUTURE dorm room is the dorm room that you will be living in when you arrive back to campus after your selected storage term. If your FUTURE dorm room has not been assigned before registration, please leave that field blank in the checkout form. 

If your FUTURE dorm room has not been assigned yet, then you are not required to label your boxes or Specialty Items with your FUTURE dorm room.

However, it is your responsibility to provide us with your FUTURE dorm room as soon as you are made aware of it.

How many boxes and Specialty Items can I store?

There is no limit to the amount of boxes you can store. However, you may only store up to ten (10) Specialty Items. All boxes and Specialty Items must be your belongings.

When/where will my boxes and Specialty Items be picked up?

All boxes and Specialty Items will be picked up from your current dorm room on Friday, March 27th. Please leave all your boxes and Specialty Items in your dorm room before you depart from campus.

When/where will my boxes and Specialty Items be delivered?

Do I need to be in my dorm room when the movers arrive for “My Dorm Room” delivery?

No, you do not need to be in your dorm room when the movers arrive for "My Dorm Room" delivery. We are given access to the residential buildings during our specified delivery days.

Can I collect my boxes and Specialty Items before the specified delivery day?

No, you cannot collect your boxes or Specialty Items before the specified delivery day. All boxes and Specialty Items are secured in our storage facility throughout the duration of your selected storage term. You will not be granted access to our facility at any time to retrieve boxes or Specialty Items.
